It´s a tragedy when a bird dies, don´t you think? Birds shouldn´t suffer. They shouldn´t have to do what everyone else does.
...because I found one. It´s a goldcrest (Regulus regulus). They don´t live in cities, and yet I found it lying down on a street, probably hit by a car. I brought it home to burn or bury it. For some reason I pressed it to my heart on the way. Goldcrests are the smallest bird in Estonia. It was completely weightless. I think that´s why I cried - not because it had died, but because it had no weight at all. It was so tiny and innocent that I couldn´t even feel it. And still it had died.
Well at home I tried to draw it, but I failed and just splashed my watercolours over it at the bathroom sink for fun. This isn´t by far the image I was going for. There was no blood either. I´ll probably redo it digitally in the future.

P.S. I swear I´ll kill this scanner one day! It didn´t pick up the colours at all!
I love this spontaneous cloud of colour. The story behind this is very sad, and quite touching. It was, as you said, such a tiny and weightless existence and now it's gone, and maybe you were the only one who noticed. But then you create this and several strangers are thinking about this tiny existence, and that's kind of nice Anyway, I really like this one. xxxxxx
